Best Charity Golf Tournaments in Palm Springs
Charity golf events are a great way to raise money for specific causes. When done well, charity events can bring in a significant amount of money, while providing a way for golfers to network, and for organizations to meet their supporters and donors.
Palm Springs, California is home to over 100 golf courses, and surrounding areas including Palm Desert, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells add several more. With over 300 days of sunshine and warm climates pretty much year-round, Palm Springs is an ideal location for golf lovers. This area is also home to numerous annual golf charity events. Here are just a few that you will find around the area.

This tournament is held annually to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club. The Boys and Girls Club is a nationwide organization that provides after school activities, mentorship and more for the youth of the area they serve. The organization is designed to give children and teens the tools they need to build a good life for themselves. In the Palm Springs location, the golf tournament is held at the Escena Golf Club. Half of the proceeds raised by the tournament are donated to the Boys and Girls Club, which is then used to fund scholarships for high school seniors to attend college.
Agua Caliente Charity Golf Tournament
The Agua Caliente Charity Golf Tournament is held at the Indian Canyons Golf Resort in Palm Springs. This golf event is held to benefit several charities. The most recent tournament donated money to the American Cancer Association, Guide Dogs of the Desert, Palm Springs Search and Rescue, Palm Springs Animal Shelter, and the Braille Institute Youth Center. Each of these organizations helps the community in different ways. The American Cancer Association, a nationwide organization, has invested in cancer research, helping to find new (and better) treatments, find the causes of cancer, and improve the quality of life for those living with cancer. Guide Dogs of the Desert provides free custom trained guide dogs for those who are blind or have special needs. The Palm Springs Search and Rescue is a volunteer organization that works with the local police department. This group relies on donations to keep their organization running. The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is a no-kill shelter that works to find homeless pets their forever homes. The Braille Institute Youth Center is a nonprofit organization that offers free services to help those who are blind or severely seeing-impaired. In the eight years of its existence, the Agua Caliente tournament has brought in over one million dollars.

Just last year in 2017, the tournament surpassed its two-million-dollar goal. The tournament brought out 75 stars, songwriters and rock legends and more. The tournament lasts the whole weekend, and prizes are awarded for such things as closest to the pin, longest drive and hole-in-ones.
Patriot Day at La Quinta Country Club
Every March, the La Quinta Country Club hosts Patriot Day, a golf tournament designed to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation. The Folds of Honor Foundation, founded in 2007, is an organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships to the children and spouses of fallen and disabled service members. The tournament includes a barbeque lunch, awards, silent and live auctions, and a dinner reception. Following the dinner reception, a presentation is given by the Folds of Honor Foundation to show the participants in the tournament just how their donations help improve the lives of those they help.
Food Now Annual Charity Golf Classic
The Food Now Annual Charity Golf Classic is held in Palm Desert. Organized by the Family Services of the Desert, Food Now is the largest food pantry in the Coachella Valley. By providing meals for families in need, the organization is able to improve lives. Registration for the tournament, which is held in February, includes breakfast, lunch, prizes (there may even be an opportunity to win a rather large prize, such as a new car), auctions and, of course, golf.
